Fruity Mulled Wine

This is a delicious drink for the colder months when there's nothing nicer than snuggling up with a warming drink, some good friends, a hearty meal, and a roaring fire!

Fruity Mulled Wine

1 bottle of a fruity red wine (Merlot is perfect)

125ml of Little Pips Black Doris Plum

1 orange sliced into wheels

4 green cardamom pods

2 star anise

1 teaspoon of whole cloves

4 cinnamon sticks or quills

I whole nutmeg grated

Method:

In a heavy based pot, add all the ingredients together. Stir together, and heat until it almost simmering. You don’t want it to boil as it will vaporize the alcohol.  Reduce the heat down to a gentle simmer for 15 minutes. Let all the delicious flavours meld together.

Sieve out the orange slices, cardamom, star anise, cloves and cinnamon sticks. Pour into a mug or stemmed glass, and add some garnish – dehydrated orange or lime wheels / a cinnamon stick / some star anise and cloves.
