FAQ

  1. Why isn’t Little Pips making a sugar-free product?

Occasionally we get asked ‘are your products are sugar-free’? It’s something we have looked into carefully. At the present time the sugar-alternatives derived from plants (like monk fruit and stevia) are still less widely available than sugar, and expensive. Some people have found the sugar-alternatives taste different, have an aftertaste, and may have side effects (like bloating and excessive gas).

Little Pips Soda Syrups are sweetened with raw organic sugar. The beauty of a syrup is you can control the amount you add to water: you can add as little as you want. As things change with sugar-alternatives, we’ll keep working on it and update you.

  1. Where is Little Pips made?

We make Little Pips Soda Syrups in small batches in West Auckland.

  1. How long will my Little Pips syrup last?

Each bottle has a Best Before date. The best before date on the bottle is an indication of quality. We had an independent review carried out on all our products after 1 year, and at 18 month post-production. Currently our products have a best before date of 1 year from production.  At 18 months, the products were still safe to consume.

However, as a rule of thumb, consume your Little Pips within the best before date to ensure the quality of the syrup.

  1. Should I refrigerate it?

Yes, once you have opened your bottle of Little Pips, pop it in the fridge. It’s best drunk cold.

  1. Are Little Pips Soda Syrups gluten-free?

Yes, our products are gluten-free.

  1. What new flavours are coming?

We have been trialing grapefruit and lemon soda syrup and it is looking and tasting good. We plan to release this in 2025.

  1. What ingredients go into Little Pips Soda Syrups?

We only use fruit grown in NZ. Our lemons come from Gisborne, our Black Doris Plums from Kumeu (West Auckland), our Strawberries and Rhubarb are from Whanganui. We add raw organic sugar, water, some citric, and tartaric acid. Both these acids occur naturally in the skins of many fruit. They are an antioxidant and used as a natural preservative. That’s it! We don’t use any flavourings, or colourings.

  1. What is Little Pips sustainability policy?

We hate waste and try hard to minimise it. We compost any fruit residue (pips, skins, and stones), and the paper cups we use at tasting sessions. All our packaging is recyclable paper and cardboard. Our bottles can be reused or repurposed. If you can drop off your empty bottles to our stand at the Titirangi market, we will gladly take them and give you .50cents off your next purchase.
